about nancy Nurmi & Blissitude Yoga
Nancy Nurmi |
(A longish summary of my story.....) I started my career in the health/wellness field as a personal trainer for over 10 years while obtaining my Bachelor's degree of Science emphasizing Kinesiology with Minor's in Science, Psychology and Spanish from Texas Woman's University. I was drawn to the more therapeutic aspects of personal training and exercise, since I am always looking for ways to heal and better myself, which led me to working with and assisting therapists in the therapy world of skilled nursing, assisted living and inpatient/outpatient settings.

I found yoga or rather it found me. I started consistently practicing yoga and meditating in 2007 when I realized how helpful it was with the pain from back injuries, foot injuries, neck tension, TMJ, the wear and tear of exercise, and most of all I found that it helped me to feel more grounded and able to handle stress and emotions more easily. That same year I was introduced to the concept of Yoga Therapy from an Occupational Therapist I worked with who happened to be a Yoga Therapist. I was intrigued and fascinated by the idea of combining yoga and therapy and that yoga could be therapeutic, needless to say I have been passionate about pursuing the area of study since that day.
Throughout the years I have practiced many styles of yoga, such as, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Kundalini but was always drawn to the more therapeutic styles due to physical injuries, emotional hurts, and my desire for spiritual connection. So when I saw the description of a one day workshop for Svaroopa® yoga in 2012, I was fascinated and intrigued and knew I had to try it.
All it took was one class and I knew I had found what I was looking for. I had no words for how I felt during and after the class because it was so different. It was more than anything I had ever experienced from other styles of yoga. I had my usual relaxed feelings but there was so much more physically, mentally and emotionally. I wanted to find out what it was, so I did some research and a month later I was attending Foundations of Svaroopa® Yoga.
I started my yoga therapy journey by becoming a Yoga Introductory Teacher (47hours) and continue to study, and immerse myself in this yoga. I completed my 200-Hr Yoga certification in 2013, I am a Embodyment®/Embodiment Yoga Therapist and working on my 500 Hr Yoga certification and working toward becoming a Yoga Therapist. I have trained with Swami Nirmalananda Saraswati, Chidanandi Sheri Cherokee, Melanie Murray, Kaya Mindlin, and Swami Khecaranatha and I continue to learn from them and many others on this yoga journey.
Now after years of experiencing this yoga, I understand what it is that I felt in that first class.......healing on all levels, contentment and bliss from the inside out. My back pain is gone(not to say I never have discomfort), I feel more energized, more grounded, endometriosis problems have reduced tremendously and almost disappeared, and Migraine headaches reduced from every month to a few times a year even if at all. Most of all it has helped me with many of my symptoms from PTSD, anxiety and perfectionism by helping me to become embodied, grounded, and able to be or find calm during the crazy moments in life. I am not what has happened to me in the past. I have become empowered by my past experiences and am here to help others become empowered. Just like it says in The Wizard of Oz, "You've always had the power my dear, You just had to learn it for yourSelf". I would love to help you get your bliss on with Blissitude Yoga-Blissful Attitude Yoga. I am honored, happy and grateful to be able to share this style of yoga in the Dallas, Texas area. I hope to be of service to you and your loved ones.
Yoga taught me to love me and that is one of the many reasons I love this yoga.
Namaste and With Love,
Nancy

Guided Relaxation with Yoga nidra
Guided Relaxation with Yoga Nidra, also known as ‘effortless relaxation or yogic rest’, takes you on an inner journey of deep rest, nourishment, healing, and relaxation. All you have to do is sit back or lie down and listen. This helps your unconscious mind open to new ways of thinking, healing, and fulfilling your conscious intentions by closing down all senses except the sense of hearing which allows the release of energy blocks- physical blocks that may be experienced as muscle tension, as well as the subtle emotional blocks that come as a result of unprocessed, suppressed or unwelcome emotions and experience.
Some of the benefits of Yoga Nidra are:
