About Blissitude Yoga

Spinal Release Yoga

A slower-paced yoga, utilizing props that meet your body where its at, and makes yoga accessible to everyone.  Bring your stresses and aches with you!  You'll experience the difference in your first class.  It's easy to tell the difference when you feel so much better - and without the sweat!  This style of yoga is suitable for most anybody and every body. (read below).

....propped (yoga blankets, blocks and yoga straps) yoga poses with hands on adjustments and alignments to decompress the spine (the axis of physical health and the conduit of the spiritual journey) & unravel deep-seated layers of tension to cultivate:
  • natural healing
  • reduce and manage physical and mental pain
  • reduce stress and anxiety
  • help restore and rejuvenate your body & mind

This yoga is a gentle non-athletic slower paced yoga.  It uses the body compassionately to open to your true self within. This yoga is a gentle approach rooted in the tantric understanding of the body as a sacred field of the yogic journey.  True yoga is a nectar that removes the pain of the human condition at its root and reveals the supreme essence of your being.  It uses the body and breath to access your innermost essence by using slower-paced propped yoga poses that meet your body where it’s at, which makes this accessible to almost everybody. (Organ Transplant recipients may not do this yoga as it could destabilize the organ).

While mainstream approaches to Yoga are often caught up in a mindset of lack and striving to gain or fix something, this yoga, is a direct, but gentle, approach to resolving and revealing all pain and distortions of the body and the mind. Through this yoga, you experience the wholeness that already is you.  It not only creates physical changes like strength, energy and flexibility but also helps you heal, transform, reduce stress, find more peace and calm in both your body and mind.

Who is not able to attend?  Why?
  • ***Organ transplant recipients may not do this yoga as it could destabilize your organ since this yoga is about balancing your immune system.
  • You must be able to get up and down off of the floor on your own.  This is a slower paced class but you must be able to transition from the chair to the floor.
  • I am not certified to work with pregnant women .

“No mats, no mirrors, no sweat. Life is hard enough. Yoga is not for achieving an athletic or aesthetic goal. It is a sacred opportunity to discover your Self.” – Kaya (Taken from www.yogawithkaya.com)
"Yoga practice is ultimately more a way of non doing than doing.  It is more a way of undoing.  It is doing less turning within letting go and surrendering.  Yoga means discovering the healing essence that can draw us to a higher awareness naturally, in which we can let go of our stress, our anxiety, our negativity, our traumas, all these emotional factors that disturb us and keep us down. Inner yoga is that in which we move from activity to surrender and to cultivating the flow of grace".  David Frawley

Guided Relaxation with Yoga Nidra

Guided Relaxation with Yoga Nidra, also known as ‘effortless relaxation or yogic rest’, takes you on an inner journey of deep rest, nourishment, healing, and relaxation.  All you have to do is sit back or lie down and listen.  This helps your unconscious mind open to new ways of thinking, healing, and fulfilling your conscious intentions by closing down all senses except the sense of hearing which allows the release of energy blocks- physical blocks that may be experienced as muscle tension, as well as the subtle emotional blocks that come as a result of unprocessed, suppressed or unwelcome emotions and experience.

Some of the benefits of Yoga Nidra are:
  • Deep profound rest
  • peacefulness
  • reduced fatigue
  • more energy
